Recognizing that students learn valuable and significant content beyond course taking in school, the following process will be available to earn credit.
Community Based Organizations
Community based organizations may apply to the district when offering extended learning experiences to students. The application must include:
- A description of when and how students will be engaged in learning for approximately 90 hours for 0.5 credit, and 180 hours for 1.0 credit
- A description of the standards, competencies, or outcomes that students will learn
- A description of assessment methods and criteria to determine if students have successfully demonstrated mastery.
Applications will be reviewed regularly by district staff, who will assist applicants as needed. Once approved, a timeline will be set for the duration of when the activity may generate credit. Applications will not be considered for learning experiences in-progress.
In most cases, students will earn elective credit for this experience, and can earn up to a total of two credits through this method.
